The "Cup"

The New Zealand America’s Cup skipper, Sir Russell Coutts, purchased an older nondescript house located across from the Coronado Golf Course after he won The Cup for New Zealand in 1992. After holding it for 17 years as a rental, he contacted John OBrien to design and build a new home on the site in 2009. The new house features a reverse floor plan, thus taking advantage of the expansive views of the golf course and Coronado Bridge. Since the home will be used as a vacation home for the Coutts family, Flagg utilized a number of minimal maintenance exterior cladding and siding materials to withstand the sun and salt-laden air.
